The average warm-up time for a steam shower can vary depending on factors such as the size of the steam generator, the temperature of the ambient water used, the insulation and sealing of the shower enclosure, and the specific manufacturer’s design. Utilizing ThermaSol’s innovative Fast Start Technology present in all PRO Series Generators, steam production is expedited, swiftly filling your shower, and bringing it to your desired temperature with exceptional efficiency.
The amount of water used during a steam session can vary depending on several factors, including the steam generator’s size, the session’s duration, and the specific manufacturer’s design. However, a rough estimate is that a 40-minute steam session might use around 2 to 4 gallons (7.6 to 15.1 liters) of water.
Every ThermaSol PRO Series Generator operates on a 208-240 Volt / Single Phase power supply. Generators designed for spaces up to 240 cubic feet require a 220 receptacle, while those intended for areas spanning 395 cubic feet or more must be hardwired. It’s imperative that each generator is connected to its dedicated circuit breaker for optimal functionality.
The energy consumption and operating cost of a steam session can vary widely based on factors such as the size of the steam generator, the duration of the session, local energy rates, and the efficiency of the steam generator itself. However, here is a general estimate to give you an idea.
On average, a 20-minute steam session might consume around 2 to 3 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity. Keep in mind that electricity costs vary depending on your location and provider. To calculate the operating cost, multiply the energy consumption in kWh by your local electricity rate in cents per kWh.
For example, if your electricity rate is 12 cents per kWh and a 20-minute steam session consumes 2.5 kWh, the cost would be: 2.5 kWh * $0.12/kWh = $0.30
Please note that this is a rough estimate, and the actual operating cost could be higher or lower based on the factors mentioned earlier. To get a more accurate estimate, refer to the specifications provided by the steam generator manufacturer and consider your local energy rates.
The preceding calculation does not consider the patented SmartSteam feature by ThermaSol. SmartSteam continually adapts and reduces the kWh consumption in alignment with the set temperatures. As a result, the cost per session when utilizing the PRO series generator, complete with SmartSteam, will be notably reduced.
Creating a steam shower involves selecting materials that can withstand high humidity and temperature fluctuations while offering a comfortable and visually appealing environment. Here are some materials that are commonly considered suitable for steam showers:
Porcelain or Ceramic Tiles: These tiles are moisture-resistant, durable, and available in various designs. They are easy to clean and maintain, making them popular for steam shower walls and floors.
Natural Stone: Stone materials like marble, granite, and slate can add a luxurious and elegant look to your steam shower. However, choosing a stone that is sealed properly is important to prevent water absorption and staining.
Glass: Glass is an excellent choice for steam showers, creating an open and spacious feel. It’s crucial to use tempered or safety glass for safety reasons and to prevent shattering due to temperature changes.
Sealed Grout: Properly sealed grout is essential to prevent moisture from seeping into the walls and causing damage. Epoxy grout is a good option as it’s more resistant to water and stains.
Stainless Steel and Brass: These metals are commonly used for fixtures such as faucets, showerheads, and handles because they are resistant to corrosion caused by steam and humidity.
Teak or Cedar: These types of wood are known for their resistance to moisture and can be used for benches or accents in the steam shower. Proper sealing or treatment is necessary to maintain their durability.
Waterproof Backer Board: This foundational material provides a moisture-resistant surface for the tiles to adhere to. Cementitious or fiber cement backer boards are commonly used.
Proper Ventilation and Vapor Barrier: While not materials themselves, these elements are essential for maintaining the steam shower’s integrity. Adequate ventilation outside the steam shower helps reduce humidity buildup, and a vapor barrier prevents moisture from penetrating walls within the steam shower.
It’s important to consult with professionals or experts in steam shower installation to ensure that the materials you choose are appropriate for the specific conditions of your bathroom and the steam shower itself. Proper installation, ventilation, and maintenance are crucial to ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your steam shower.
Sloping the ceiling in a steam shower is not a strict requirement, but it can offer certain benefits. The primary purpose of sloping the ceiling is to prevent condensed water vapor from dripping onto the occupants or surfaces of the steam shower. The steam in the shower can condense on cooler surfaces, such as the ceiling, and form droplets that could fall. Ultimately, the decision to slope the ceiling depends on your preferences, the design of your steam shower (especially if you incorporate a rainhead or other shower fixtures into the ceiling), and the advice of professionals experienced in steam shower installation and design.
To safeguard against mildew and optimize the air circulation within your steam shower, it’s highly advisable to incorporate suitable ventilation. Two effective options for achieving this are installing a transom window or a conventional shower exhaust fan.
The transom window has gained significant popularity due to its blend of elegance and functionality. Positioned above the shower door and within easy reach, a transom window allows you to effortlessly open it, thereby facilitating your steam shower’s venting and breathing process. Conversely, closing the transom window ensures a secure seal, maintaining the integrity of the steam shower’s environment.
Opting for a traditional shower exhaust fan also proves beneficial. This fan should be placed outside the shower door and activated after your steam session, effectively expelling residual steam. While using the exhaust fan, leaving the shower door slightly ajar is recommended. This practice permits continuous ventilation and the dispersion of remaining moisture from the steam shower.
Adhering to these streamlined requirements ensures optimal steam generator placement, ensuring both functionality and safety:
Distance and Proximity: Install the generator within 50 feet from the steam shower. This proximity allows for efficient steam transmission while maintaining a manageable piping distance.
Climate-Controlled Environment: Choose a location within a finished, climate-controlled space. Shield the generator from external weather conditions to safeguard its performance and longevity.
Clearance and Accessibility: Provide a minimum clearance of 6 inches around all sides of the generator. This ensures proper ventilation and ease of maintenance. Avoid concealing it behind walls or within benches, ensuring accessibility for routine checks and repairs.
Orientation and Surface: Place the generator horizontally on a level surface, ensuring the label is oriented from left to right. This orientation guarantees consistent operation and accurate monitoring.
Steam Line Configuration: When routing the steam line, consider these principles: The steam line can ascend then descend once or travel horizontally. However, it must never descend before ascending.
Insulation for Piping: If the steam outlet piping extends over 10 feet or is exposed to colder areas, use steam-rated insulation to prevent heat loss and maintain steam temperature during transmission.
Placing your steam shower controller is essential for easy accessibility and convenient operation. Here are some considerations for determining the best location for your steam shower controller:
1. Within Arm’s Reach: Install the controller within easy reach from where you’ll be seated or standing in the steam shower. This ensures you can adjust settings comfortably without straining or leaving the shower.
2. Clear Line of Sight: Choose a location with a clear line of sight to the controller’s display. This allows you to monitor and adjust settings accurately, even when steam is present.
3. Protection from Steam: While the controller should be easily accessible, it should also be positioned to prevent direct exposure to steam.
4. Optimal Height: Positioning the controller 60 inches from the floor is the recommended height.
5. Adjacent to Seating: Consider placing the controller nearby if your steam shower includes built-in seating or a bench. This allows you to adjust without getting up from your seat.
6. Professional Advice: If you’re unsure about the best location for the controller, consult with a ThermaSol professional who can assist you.
Adhere to these straightforward guidelines to ensure optimal placement of your SteamVection Steamhead within your steam shower setup:
1. Height and Clearances: Position the Steamhead at 24 inches from the shower floor and maintain a clearance of 6 inches from all corners.
2. Seating and Bench Consideration: Avoid installing the Steamhead beneath any seating area or bench. This precaution prevents direct steam exposure to these surfaces, preserving their integrity and comfort.
3. Controller and Steamhead Separation: Whenever feasible, create a notable distance between the Steamhead and the controller. This separation enhances the clarity of operation for each component and optimizes the overall functionality of your steam shower.

Key Features:
ThermaSol is committed to delivering exceptional quality and service, ensuring your steam shower experience remains gratifying and worry-free.
Adjust your steam controller to your preferred temperature and duration, then settle in and unwind. When utilizing steam, the guiding principle is your comfort. If, at any point, the experience ceases to be enjoyable, it loses its benefits. For those new to steam showers, it’s wise to commence with lower temperatures and shorter intervals, gradually progressing until your perfect comfort zone is achieved.
Initiate the cooldown phase by activating your shower after concluding your steam session. This step serves a dual purpose: as the steam has permeated and opened your pores, the shower refreshes and cleanses your skin. This harmonious combination enhances the overall rejuvenating effect of the steam shower experience
Our SteamVection Steamhead offers a remarkable feature—an integrated essential oil reservoir. Before you start your steam session, introduce a few drops of your chosen essential oil into the reservoir. This ingenious addition empowers you to personalize every facet of your experience, tailoring it to suit your preferences, the specific shower session, and even the day’s mood.
Regular steam shower use can offer a range of potential health benefits, although individual experiences may vary. Here are some common health benefits that people often associate with regular steam use:
1. Relaxation and Stress Relief: Steam showers provide a calming and soothing environment that can help reduce stress and promote relaxation. The warm steam helps relax muscles and encourages a sense of well-being, potentially helping to alleviate anxiety and tension.
2. Improved Circulation: The heat from steam can dilate blood vessels, improving circulation throughout the body. This increased blood flow can deliver more oxygen and nutrients to cells while aiding in removing waste products.
3. Skin Cleansing: Steam can open pores and induce sweating, which can assist in the removal of impurities and toxins from the skin. This cleansing effect can leave your skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
4. Respiratory Support: Steam inhalation can help ease congestion and open airways, benefiting those with respiratory issues like allergies, sinusitis, or chest congestion. It can also help moisturize the respiratory passages.
5. Muscle Relaxation and Pain Relief: The heat from steam can help relax muscles and relieve muscle tension. This can particularly benefit individuals with sore muscles, minor aches, or mild joint discomfort.
6. Aid in Sleep: Steam showers, mainly before bedtime, can help promote relaxation and create a conducive environment for better sleep.
7. Detoxification: Sweating induced by the steam shower can assist in the elimination of toxins and metabolic waste products from the body.
8. Stimulation of Metabolism: The increased heart rate and improved steam session circulation can positively impact metabolism.
9. Mental Clarity: Steam sessions can offer a brief respite from daily stressors, allowing for mental relaxation and an opportunity to clear the mind.
It’s important to note that while these benefits are commonly associated with steam shower use, individual responses can vary. Additionally, if you have certain medical conditions or are pregnant, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional before incorporating regular steam sessions into your routine. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for safe and proper usage of your steam shower.
A traditional sauna uses water to generate steam, so technically, the infrared experience is not a sauna at all. Infrared does not warm the room but penetrates the body only where the infrared rays are in direct view of the body, “direct heat.” The proper definition for the infrared experience is to refer to it as an “infrared therapy room,” a low-temperature space that helps relieve sore joints and muscles. A traditional sauna is a total body experience, providing not only joint and muscle relief but other health benefits, such as respiratory relief, endorphin & stress relief, skin rejuvenation, detoxification, caloric burn & weight loss, and better sleep.
Yes, while our barrel saunas are designed with the outdoors in mind, they will work equally as well indoors as it does outdoors.
We do not advise it, but it is possible. A shelter is needed since indoor saunas have a flat top and are not designed to shed water. It is also recommended to increase the heater size due to the higher amount of glass used in indoor saunas and climate variables.
Increase the heater by one size if:
Increase the heater by two sizes if:

The health benefits attributed to sauna usage are directly linked to the level of heat that the rooms can obtain. These benefits include pain relief, muscle relaxation, respiratory relief, endorphin & stress relief, skin rejuvenation, detoxification, calorific burn & weight loss, and better sleep.
